Ant Control

After a long winter season, the anticipation of spring and summer to usher in the return of warm weather is real. But when spring and summer arrive, so can hordes of ants. Hundreds or thousands of them can literally appear overnight.

We exterminate ants before they come marching in!

Ants are social insects. Seeing one single ant always means that more are nearby. Killing a few ants won’t really take care of the problem. Effective ant control often requires tracking down and destroying the colony.

Identifying an Ant Infestation

Ants are easy to recognize but can be difficult to eliminate once they have invaded a location. Attracted to any form of food, ants will invade and contaminate food supplies quickly. In addition, among the many species spread across North America, several types of ants will not only significantly damage a structure in a relatively short length of time, ants have been known to also cause troublesome health issues as well as being an unsightly nuisance to property owners. In addition, Carpenter ants which are located in California can bore holes into structures causing damage.

Ants form colonies headed by a queen and her workers. They develop quickly into large nests formed along the openings and crevices of a property. Presto Pest Control Inc. pest control experts are trained and experienced to quickly identify any ant species that can threaten the well-being of individuals and the overall structural integrity of your property with a customized pest control program for their quick removal.

Minimize and Prevent

How you can minimize and prevent ants in your home?

Keep trash tidy by putting them in closed containers and avoiding to overfill them. Store trash cans outside and away from your home. Trim all trees and bushes back away from the house. Give your home a clearance of 2 feet so that you can easily inspect for ants. Ants love plants because the root system provides a great water supply and softens the soil making it easier for them to nest. If you keep a gap between plants and the house you can prevent ants from entering or at least make it harder for them to get in.

Investing in our seasonal or scheduled perimeter treatment as a preventative measure will immensely reduce your chances of having an ant infestation.

Bed Bug Hiding Places

In order for a bed bug pest control management to be effective, a comprehensive inspection of a property infested with bed bugs is necessary. Habitats include mattress seams, bed frames, headboards, baseboards and carpet edges. Cracks and crevices, upholstered furniture and particularly any area used for sleeping are also potential hiding places for bed bugs.

The Importance of Bed Bug Extermination

Bed bugs are small, oval, brownish insects that live on the blood of humans. Adult bed bugs have flat bodies about the size of an apple seed. After feeding, their bodies swell and become a reddish color. The females lay approximately 5 eggs per day which is why it’s difficult to get control over a Bed Bug infestation.

Most people try washing the sheets, throwing away their mattress and box spring, using store bought pesticides, sleeping in other areas which are all practices that make investigation the location of the infestation more difficult. Mattress Safe encasements can be purchased saving both mattresses and box springs (https://mattresssafe.com).

Cockroaches don’t usually cause physical damage to buildings. However, they can be a difficult nuisance and can also be a significant health concern. Cockroaches may contaminate food products with their bodies and waste products. They may also leave a disturbing odor in areas where an infestation has taken place. Foraging cockroaches are vectors of disease, depositing germs or bacteria in areas that they infest and causing attacks of asthma in people who are prone.

Got a severe German cockroach infestation in your home?

We go where others don’t go with deep harborage treatment using actisol. Why does this matter? Because these are places cockroaches and other pests love to hide. It is also where conventional methods of treatment fail. Going where others won’t or can’t go means quicker elimination of high populations and faster control of these disgusting pests. Our actisol machine releases a fog-like substance enabling us to penetrate all cracks and crevices, void areas of all equipment, baseboards, tiles, walls, and areas that are inaccessible with liquid. This is to ensure we find the source of the infestation.

Hire Professionals at Presto

Rodents & Disease

In addition to being tough to control, rodents may carry diseases and taint food by leaving behind urine and droppings. In fact, rodents can contaminate about 10 times the amount of food they eat. The CDC links some rodents to hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a disease fatal in about 36 percent of all reported U.S. cases.

The pests are also hosts for mites or fleas, which can spread plague and diseases like lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus. This illness mostly affects those with weakened immune systems and may result in headaches, fever, and meningitis. It can also cause complications during pregnancy.

Professional Rodent Exterminators

Do you think you’re adequately protected against rodents? It’s probably not enough. A lot of small rodents, like mice, can fit through gaps as small as a dime. If you think you have a rat or mice infestation, it’s important to contact professional rodent exterminators; your home needs to be protected from the disease they can carry.

Termite Control

Do you notice some unexplained holes with round pellets piled up? You might have a termite problem.

Termites can damage floors, walls, ceilings, foundations, windows, doors, etc. Termites are able to adapt to ever changing environments and can wreak more havoc than a series of natural disasters combined including hurricanes and hailstorms. Damage due to termites is estimated to be more than 5 billion annually in the US alone. Most insurance companies will not provide coverage for personal loss incurred from the ravages of a termite colony.

Do I Have Termites?

Termite activity often goes undetected. They will find the thinnest of cracks in your home’s structure, get in and eat away without any visible signs. They are secretive pests and spotting them can prove to be very tricky. They can live undetected in hollow doors and wall voids for many years. That’s why effective termite control is vital.

Resolve Your Termite Problem Now

Termites are voracious pests and eat 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. That means that they are constantly consuming wood and damaging it. If left untreated, termites can seriously weaken the wood within your home leading to a potential disaster.

Presto Pest Control, Inc. offers you our expertise in providing effective, customized preventative methods for your termite problem.

Call us and we’ll send a trained termite specialist to conduct a thorough inspection of the inside and outside of your home, carefully looking for evidence of termite activity and potential access points. Based on our findings, we’ll customize a treatment and/or protection plan to protect your home against termites.

Spider Control

Most spiders are harmless, but spotting a spider web in your home can be an unsettling experience. The thought of having a venomous spider such as a black widow or a brown recluse in your home is very scary. In fact, a lot of people have learned to fear just the sight of a black widow spider. The good news is that these spiders are no harder to control than any other spider. All spiders need a food source and harborage to live indoors. By eliminating the existing spiders with an insecticide you will also be eliminating their food source, insects, which in turn will help prevent new spiders from moving indoors.

How Did It Get Into My Home?

Cracks under windows, doors and other openings including loose screens may be potential entryways for a spider. These pests may move indoors while searching for food, mates, warmth, or moisture. The presence of insects and other prey in homes is a common reason for spiders to come inside. Spiders are also accidentally introduced inside homes when they are unknowingly introduced to the home’s interior via infested items such as plants, firewood, clothing and other items stored in attics, basements or other storage areas.

Presto’s Professional Service

Presto offers you a professional spider control to combat your spider infestation problem. Our professional service includes inspection and monitoring which are aimed to identify specific spider species that may be dangerous and confirming those which are harmless. Flea Control

Has your dog or cat been scratching too much lately? Is there something tiny and black jumping from the sofa onto your arm? Did you feel itchy afterwards? First of all, start by vacuuming. Regular vacuuming lowers the number of fleas and their eggs from carpeting, cracks in wood floors, and on curtains and upholstered furniture.

However, if you have a serious flea invasion, you should call a professional. Eliminating a flea infestation will mean treating all places that can be infested, including your pet, your home and your yard. Failing to treat all of the areas will likely lead to treatment failure.

Fleas and Your Pets

Fleas are not only an itchy nuisance, but can also bring disease to you and your pets. This annoying parasite can pose real dangers to your dog’s health. Some dogs are severely allergic to flea saliva and can experience extreme discomfort. Cats and dogs can develop mild to severe flea allergy dermatitis, flea bite anemia, and internal parasites like tapeworms. Humans, especially children, are sometimes exposed to parasites through interaction with flea-infested pets.

Don’t let fleas live in your home. Call us today and we’ll get rid of your fleas.

Bee & Wasp Control

Bees and wasps usually come out during spring. Even in warmer areas like California, the temperatures drop low enough to cause bees and wasps to go into hibernation. Some wasps have been hibernating inside your home, usually in the attic. When the sun comes out, that all changes. They start seeking places to build nests and queens start looking for places to lay their eggs. Sometimes stinging insects build their nests right near where you live or work.

The common thread that links these pests is their ability to inflict painful stings. Having them in unwanted places around your home can be detrimental, especially for people who are allergic to their stings.

How to Identify a Bee or Wasp Infestation

Wasps make their nests from chewed wood pulp and saliva, giving them distinctive papery walls. Nests are usually built in sheltered spots with easy
access to the outside. You can often find wasp nests in wall cavities, roof spaces, under eaves, in bird boxes, sheds or garages. To locate a nest,
carefully watch the flight path of the returning wasps, this becomes easierlater in the summer as the numbers of wasps increase.

At first, a wasp nest will start off very small. When a Queen wasp starts to build a nest in spring it is usually about the size of a walnut or golf ball. As summer progresses the nest will grow rapidly in size as the number of wasps increase. A nest can become the size of a football, or even bigger in some cases. It is best to treat a nest earlier in the year before numbers increase and the wasps become more aggressive.

It is possible to confuse wasps with bees. However the treatment available for a wasp nest and a bee hive differ.

Bees are an endangered species and a bees nest will only be removed if it poses a significant threat to nearby people. Our Wasp Nest Removal will only treat a bees nest as a last resort and with honey bees, only after contacting a qualified bee keeper.

Treatments for a wasp nest are far more common and can be carried out professionally by Our Wasp Nest Removal experts, quickly and safely.
