Professional Yellow Jacket Nest Removal in San Jose & the Bay Area
The Danger of Yellow Jackets on Your Property
Unlike honeybees, yellow jackets are highly aggressive wasps that can sting repeatedly when threatened. In late summer and fall, yellow jacket colonies reach peak size, becoming fiercely territorial and searching aggressively for sweet foods and protein near patios, garbage cans, and outdoor living spaces.
Their nests—often hidden underground, inside wall cavities, or under roof eaves—pose a serious health hazard to children, pets, and anyone with stinging insect allergies. Presto Pest Control provides fast, targeted, and complete nest eradication to make your outdoor spaces safe again.
Types of Yellow Jacket Nests We Treat
Hidden in lawn burrows, soil cavities, or under root systems (often stepped on accidentally).
Nests built behind exterior siding, soffits, chimneys, or attic insulation.
Suspended under deck railings, porch eaves, sheds, or dense shrubs.
Why Professional Removal is Essential
Yellow jackets release pheromones when threatened, triggering an immediate attack from hundreds of wasps.
Unlike honeybees, yellow jackets retain their stingers and can sting repeatedly.
Nests built in drywall or ceilings can chew through interior walls over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are yellow jackets the same as honeybees?
No. Yellow jackets are hairless, bright yellow and black wasps with narrow waists. They are carnivores/scavengers, highly aggressive, and do not make honey or pollinate like bees.
What should I do if I find a yellow jacket nest underground?
Keep family and pets far away and do not try to pour water, gasoline, or DIY spray into the hole, as this usually causes wasps to attack in force. Call a professional immediately.
